47. March 2009: Ann Texter
Photography is my passion. I fell in love with photography when given a camera at a very young age. From the first click of the shutter I knew instantly that photography would become a part of who I was for the rest of my life. I have never been able to settle on just one process. There are so many I want to explore and try. I use multiple cameras, formats, film types and historic/alternative processes. I have found that through my photographic experimentation a sharpened vision and growing passion for the unpredictable has resulted. I truly find that each camera and process combined with the images I take can be somewhat unpredictable at times, which lends itself to a wonderful serendipity. Serendipity is my favorite word as well as something I believe is present in our everyday lives. I feel it leads us from one point to the next, in an always surprising manner, moving us closer to our own personal destiny, or fate. I often feel that I am being led down a serendipitous path in my photographic endeavors. It’s been a never ending journey of twists and turns always ending up somewhere new, yet somehow familiar. I’m always on the edge of my seat to see where it takes me next. Ann Texter is mostly a self-taught photographer. She grew up in Kansas but currently lives near Austin, Texas. Ann is an active member of the Austin Alternative Process Group and the Texas Photographic Society. Her work has been published and frequently exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally.
