Anyone know what this setup might be?
« on: December 30, 2017, 11:12:10 AM »
Hi

The photographer is Paul Shambroom.

You can see the instagram image here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BdTdzCOHwlR

And this is the actual jpg

I took a guess at the logo being Contax? But I am not 100% sure as it is so skewed due to the angle of the image

Everything should be tried once except incest and folk dancing.

Ah, I think actually the body is Sony?

Definitely a Sony body. Lens looks like an enlarger lens. Can't see an adaptor between the body and the bellows and I don't think Sony make bellows so must be a custom job.

It looks a bit like the Hama Spiratone Bellows, but I am not sure.

I looked at his Instagram but I wish he had posted a picture he shot with that set up. Otherwise he's just a tease!

The lens is a kind of Schneider.
What I find odd about the bellows is that they have movement.
I'm reminded that Cambo once made stuff for what they called an digital view camera. So that could be it.
And I can confirm that the camera is a Sony. Just look at the marking for the sensor plane, it's too close to the front to be anything else. Also, the camera is extremely thin.

The lens is definitely an enlarger lens so maybe the bellows came off an enlarger as well. A lot of enlargers have movements.

If you want an off-the-shelf similar setup then there's this and it'll only cost you 1400 pounds.

And the camera is a Sony A7rII.

It could also be a regular lens for the bellows set. These don't usually have any focusing capability.

The frame could be something hand made from various components and inspired by the Horseman LD (http://www.kenko-pi.co.jp/horseman/e/digital/LD.html)

I checked Sinar, Cambo, Arca, Alpa and they all have a different design using base tilt (Sinar and Cambo make them, Arca and Alpa don't)

Definitely an enlarger lens Francois. You can see the tab that's used for changing the aperture. Here's something similar. It would need to be a medium format lens to allow for movements so probably an 80mm.

Yeah, you're right... It is an enlarging lens.

60mm Schneider Componon

I might look into the bellows.
