Weekend 15th-17th December 2017
« on: December 15, 2017, 08:35:36 AM »
It's really rainy and miserable here. Reckon some colour is needed.

We've also entered the Grey Season around here. Embrace the dullness, I say.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Hi folks, I am back after quite a hiatus! So hi to those both old and new! I hope to get back into regular FilmWasting®

As always happens when I get back into the game, it always takes time for my processing of film to catch up with return to shooting the danged stuff! So this is a few months old (as I work through the backlog), from a weekend in Rochester NY from the summer. Fortunately I had a few rolls of TMAX kicking around as I felt I might be drummed out of town if I showed up with my usual FP4+ haha.

Here's a few more from my Contax T, the same roll I shared last week.  Fujicolor Superia 1600 metered at 1000.  The first one was shot in very low light, the piers are lit from lights inside the ferry boat next to it.  I steadied the camera on the railing of the ferry.

Ahh Shucks, Francois! Thanks, and with you calling me "kid" I think I am the one that got the early xmas present, haha. I will try not to fall of the face of the earth again (there should be a fence there or something to stop that from happening!)

I haven't had much time for filmwasting this month, instead trying to use the d*g*t*l cameras to boost my comfort level prior to photographing a family member's wedding. Fortunately, the archive is deep and I found this gem that pretty much describes weather conditions here at the moment. My childhood memories of Christmas mostly involve ice cream cones in my grandparents' back yard. (I'm the snappy dresser on the right, with the box under my arm, along with my sister and cousins.)

All this talk of rain makes me long for "normal" December weather, of the "chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose" variety. Here in Southern California, we're experiencing our longest period of red-flag conditions - high temps, single digit humidity, and strong winds - in history. Temps have been in the 80s all week and there's no rain in the forecast until the end of the month; sigh.

Kodak Starflash with the plastic-fantastic Dakon lens (one of the primary reasons I never warmed to Diana or Holga cameras and lo-fi imaging); and Ektachrome

Great photos everyone. :)

I'll throw in some colourful autumn / winter photos. Shot with Canon F-1 and Canon 100mm or Canon 135mm lenses on expired Fuji Sensia 100. It's such a shame that the Sensia isn't produced anymore. I really love the way it reproduces the colours.

Love the weekends!
Mine's a blast from the past...a road trip on Route 66 and to Chicago and The Art Institute.
Using the Holga, one of my early on adventures with it actually.

Hey Don Great to see you back.

The company I work for closed last week, so on 'clean out your desk' day, I took a few last pics of the environs there.

Miguel, I really love Fomapan 100 and I have to say that it looks brilliant in Ilfosol.

James, I hope that everything's well and that you've found another job.

I'm taken by the beasties this week... Becky's lion and CS1's horse in snow...

These are both from the same roll of Delta 3200 rated at 1600 as last week's effort.
Taken at the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate, where the Antony Gormley piece "Another Time" has been installed and appears to be receiving visitors at low tide.

Last weekend Sunday we had some snow, so out came the Noon 4x5 pinhole box.
HP5+ exposed @400 ISO, 8 seconds, dev in Rodinal 1+50 for 11 minutes - as you can see I am still struggling with uneven development and rough handling ..... The snow was gone by Tuesday. Still got a roll of TMAX 400 awaiting developing.

Monochrome abstraction seems to be a sub-theme in this week’s thread.  02Pilot’s Grey Season, Mcduff’s Rochester, Miguel’s Bench, and Kentish Cob’s Handrail catch my eye.  I’ll throw in this photo of discarded cardboard on the Point Street Bridge in Providence, Rhode Island—shot in a Rollei 35 on Tri-X and semi-stand developed in Caffenol C-L.
