It is Weekend 17-19 November 2017
« on: November 17, 2017, 06:29:06 AM »
Hello,

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!  :)
Getting started with some Adox Scala 160 black & white slide film. It is the first time I tried b&w reversal and I am very happy with the tonality. Latitude seems to be not so bad and resolution similar to colour slide. I slightly over exposed the film.

Manuel,

Great shots! Did  you develop it yourself, or sent it to a lab?

Here's a couple from last weekend in NYC:

Kodak Tmax 400, double exposure in Grand Central.

Rollei CR200, cross processed. I had just developed a test roll shot while walking to the train/on the train back to PA, using an Olympus XA. The plastic reel was wet, and I tried to load the film immediately after finishing the other one. I took me around 5-6 minutes, not realizing the light was leaking from under the bathroom door. I got frustrated and sort of bunched up the film in the tank, half of it not spooled into the reel. Oh well.

Manuel, I really like that second one!  I've never tried black and white positive film but I have been contemplating it for movie film.  If you processed it yourself I would be interested in how you did it.

These were shot this past summer when I was trying to make a good printable negative for the post card exchange.  Expired film is not very good for contact printing.  Rex Laboratories 4x5 camera with a Kodak Ektar 127mm f/4.7 lens.  The film is Kodak TMax 100 that expired 08/1997 developed in Beer.

I like Manuel's high-key leaves and Kai's silo shadows. Nice work all. Here are a couple from a recent go-round with the Speed Graphic on Kodak CSG x-ray film. I grow these cayenne peppers to dry and grind up on my food. They are much hotter than the 'crushed red pepper' you get in the grocery.

A great start, and I think I prefer the first one, Manuel.

More autumn pinhole, and low sun.

black and white seems to prevail...so I'm going with it.
Holga shot on Arista 400 that made the cottonwood tree look like it was done in IR.
This is just up the road from me on the Turquoise Trail...it's quite a drive and busy in summer with tourists so I wait until fall when the road is less driven.
Dunked in my usual caffenol for 8 mins.

P.S....we are in November right?
Manuel, I like the first one too.

And thanks for all the kind comments! I sent the Scala to a lab for development. We have a little toddler running about at home, so I banned the chemicals for a while.

Here are four from an ongoing project involving sunflowers and milkweed.  Hopefully, it will lead to a photo essay, someday.

Leica R6, 50mm Summicron, Fujicolor 200, developed and scanned at The Darkroom.

Snow???
And that much of it?

Wow, the climate is really going cuckoo.
Here we're still on the grass with temperatures well above freezing.

And here in Southern California, we're living up to our reputation of The Land of Perpetual Summer. Temps are expected to be in low to mid 90 degree (32+ C) range this week.

Hi :)

Instant film may be the key to pulling me out of my slump! This batch likely got accidentally frozen (I forgot my camera in my car for a few days!  :-\ ) but I still kinda like the effect.

The frozen effect really adds to the atmosphere - I think this is a really strong picture.

Well this is neat.
At least there aren't any crushed crystals on the print :)

And don't worry about the slump. I've been in that state for more years than I can count....
Only solution is to keep on trucking.

A true keeper, IMO, even if I can't say exactly why. Maybe because the composition converges to the artist's face? Anyway, congratulations.

Thanks, Bernard. I was pleased with the way it came out.
