Weekend 29-30 April
« on: April 28, 2017, 09:43:18 AM »
A friend is making another friend´s portrait, and I took the portrait of them both  ::)  I had not used the Pentax 67 for a while, and it showed out.

I recently watched a Sam Abell talk on YouTube... the man really pays attention to detail, micro composition. It forces you to go back to your pictures, that´s when you realize there is much ground for improvement.

More fine arts, more fine arts!!

I was at an art medal conference last weekend which included a casting workshop.  Medals are often in cast bronze but this time it was cast iron.  This is the first time I've put a meniscus lens (the rear element of a 105mm, I think) onto a 35mm cam, an MZ5n.  It was mounted on a coarse helical ripped untimely from a dud zoom lens (see, zooms are sometimes useful) and had a cutesy little cardboard stop stuffed on the front - it was F.something or other.

One of the artists carving into the surface of a silicate block.

Firing up the furnace.

Fuji Acros in DDX.

Hi!

Amazing, Sandeha! Can you post a photo of the "transformer" ;-)

I tested a "simpler" gear, a Olympus XA. Wonderful little camera.

I was also testing, if not experimenting, this week. Two shots, one each from cameras that I worked on recently.

First up is the Hexar AF I resurrected, as mentioned in the "I just made/fixed" thread:

And next one from the Canon VI-L I picked up in rather dubious shape (light leak, dirty, speeds off) and gave a full CLA. Lens attached for this was a Nikkor 85/2.

Both on HP5+ in Caffenol C-H(RS).

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I tested my PPPF camera (Polaroid Packfilm Pinhole Frankenstein camera) in preparation for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.  I tested it with both Fujifilm FP-3000b and FP-100c.  I metered the film with the Pinhole Assist app on my iPhone which automatically calculates the reciprocity for the type of film, it works great.

Here's one I just developed, shot last weekend when Union Pacific 844 came to town to celebrate our train depot's 92nd anniversary (Leica M3, Summicron 50 rigid, Neopan 400):

Just catching up with scanning - here is tree blossom - GW690iii - Neopan400CN - expired 2005 - seems some light leaking at the edges - strangely there's a greenish tint at the film edges - lab issues?
Not sure I can find where the focus was set.

Here's an image taken with an AGFA ISO RAPID, using Provia 100 expired slide film re-spooled into the special cartridges - Sunrise over Bucharest / Romania. I like the nuclear type halo effect, taken on the "cloudy" setting.

Taken for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day but, in the end, I submited a similar, digital, colour one.

Here are a few pinholes from this weekend.
And yes, they are in three-dee :)
Too bad I didn't have any close subjects to try it on.

Weird weekend in many ways.  FWers site is all over the place, I can't count how many different members I've "been" and it still seems far from sorted.  Hopefully, someone will get a grip of the situation soon.  In the meantime, here's a couple of cyanised Holga photos from Dungeness:

"An ounce of perception. A pound of obscure".
