Does cross processing in c-41 ruin the chemistry, or can you continue using it on negative film as usual afterwards?

It has no detrimental effect on the chemistry. You can continue using it as usual for CN or x-pro films.

Thanks.  I have some expired Astia/Velvia in the freezer and was hesitating spending money on fresh chemistry for expired films.  Onward!

I hope this will better the availability of slide film processing service.
I have some rolls of Slide film which I wanted to "waste" but I know I won't find a place to process them nearby.

I don't know where you're located but there are plenty of mail order options in the U.S.

Well... if you want to X-pro the film, there's a trick.
You take an old can of something like Kodak Gold and you re-spool the slide film in it before dropping it at the drugstore for 1 week processing.
It goes to a big lab where the workers won't really notice since the film is machine extracted and they always have fresh chems...

Just out of curiosity, what part of Canada are you in?

There is still borealis in montreal and I believe there is an E6 processor on the west coast in vancouver as well.

Toronto there is Downtown camera which will send out your film to borealis but I believe there is a smaller lab doing small runs in the city. Cant remember the name off the top of my head.

I think the REAL trick is to download some of my film lablels I designed and stick those over top of your E6 canister for some cheap xpro.

Finally, there seems to be some movement on this story.

https://petapixel.com/2017/09/13/return-kodak-ektachrome-film-nigh/
and
http://www.thephoblographer.com/2017/09/12/kodak-working-towards-bringing-ektachrome-back-market-2018/

(but don't read the one on dpreview, it's full of people who would have cheerfully murdered every horse on the planet the moment the car was invented)

They're working on market testing by the end of the year, and full availability in 2018, with Kodak (NY) making the film and selling it in super 8 , and Kodak Alaris packaging and selling the 35mm film.

So things are afoot. Maybe I should start thinking about getting some second-hand 'rondex' mags for my old slide projector and make 2018 the year of the transparency?

OMG...that is one of the funniest statements I've seen in a long time.  That said, cosidering DPReview's trolls and fanboys....also one of the most accurate!

I've got a bunch of Ektrachrome 100G in my freezer that I think I will start using as a way of celebrating!

I talked to someone at Adorama who seemed to be super into the new Ektachrome (as opposed to the guy I talked to last week at Adorama who couldn't care less about it and gave me no information about it) and he (super-into it guy, not couldn't-care-less guy) said that the initial release date was sometime in November, then it was pushed to December, and right now it is "first quarter 2018" :( I hope the delay is because they're MAKING IT MORE AWESOME  >:(

First production batch of Ektachrome on the big coating machine, yesterday 11/14. This batch will be tested internally at Kodak, and if it meets the standards, regular production will begin shortly after.

Important announcement from Kodak this Friday. They are hinting to "pushing" on their IG account. A lot of photo people that I follow are suggesting that it could be Tmax 3200 coming back as well.

High speed duplicating film?  ;D ;D ;D
(for the lesser geeks, it was a 1000 ISO film that was a predecessor to the Tmax p3200)

Kodak Alaris Revives KODAK PROFESSIONAL T-MAX P3200 Film / TMZ

Multi-Speed B&W Film to be Available in March, 2018

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  February 23, 2018 – Kodak Alaris announced today that it is bringing back KODAK PROFESSIONAL T-MAX P3200 Film / TMZ, a multi-speed panchromatic black-and-white negative film. While the nominal film speed of P3200 TMZ is ISO 800, the “P” means it’s designed to be push processed to EI 3200 or higher.  This film excels when shooting in low light or when capturing fast action.   It is ideally suited for handheld street scene photography, night work, and in dimly lit venues where you can’t use flash.

“It’s no secret that we’ve been looking for opportunities to expand our portfolio” said Dennis Olbrich, President – Kodak Alaris Paper, Photo Chemicals and Film. “Darkroom photography is making a comeback, and B&W Film sales are clearly on a positive trajectory. Given these very encouraging market trends, we believe P3200 TMZ will be a great addition to our lineup”.

Kodak Alaris plans to offer KODAK PROFESSIONAL T-MAX P3200 Film in 135-36x format. Shipments to Distributors and Stockhouse dealers will begin in March in the U.S., with other regions around the world following shortly thereafter.

I must say I'm quite happy with that news. While it was expensive, there wasn't much choice in the market if you needed an ultra high speed emulsion... Even with today's digital standards, there isn't much that can offer this level of quality at the sensitivity this film can reach when pushed to its limits.

FPP has TMax3200 available for pre-order at $9.99/roll. Until 28 Feb, use code savedollar at checkout to knock a buck off the price, no limit.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

It sounds like Super 8 is going to be available at the same time, about $40 per cartridge.  I also heard that they are offering 16mm unperforated for other companies to perforate into double 8mm.  Maybe Lomo will put it in 110 cartridges.

Firstcall Photographic has it on pre-order (stock available end of October) at £13.99, just ordered a few rolls.

Next thing is to look on the 'bay for a spare 'Rondex' mag for my old Hanimex slide projector. While I'll scan the slides in, it'd be nice to view them properly!
