Yes, that's what I usually do. They were either made before or after a concert (f.e. Juliette, Polvorosa) or a little shooting was agreed. I don't like assignments but ask the artists/people if they would like to be portraied by me. One of the few exceptions was the Christoph Neuhaus Quintett. Artists mostly are willing "victims" who want to become the focus of intention, but can also be oversensitive.
Lisa Herbolzheimer, jazz singer, grand-daughter of the famous HR Bigband leader. She was rather exhausted after the show, a one minute shooting after I set up the single lamp. I only took 2 or 3 pictures and love her expression.
