It's Friday I'm in love! Weekend 2016-02-05
« on: February 04, 2016, 10:15:50 PM »
I know it's a bit early to start a weekend thread but I'm just too happy to wait for another day!
First, I get to start the thread... and I think it's my first time :)
Second, I finally got that roll that had been sitting in my camera processed.
Third, this was a bit of an experiment in aging; ISO 400 Gold Ultramax that I exposed at EI 250. And the colors came out just fine.
Fourth, out of the full roll, there are very few duds.
Fifth, I got to try my 1¢/mm lens and it worked just like a charm.
Sixth, I got to try using off camera flash with a TTL cable and it's fantastic :)

If that doesn't give you reason to be happy, I don't know what will  ;D

First one is the 500mm lens that I paid a cent per mm.
Second if a small portrait... for once I got a model that doesn't complain ;)
Third is totally uncorrected.

I just hope I haven't lost my touch...
Francois

A wonderful start as always. I particularly like calbisu's first one, perhaps because it looks a bit like my offering? :P

Nice start, folks. I'm deviating from my usual single image to post a short group; it's too small to be a photo essay, but I feel like these need to be shown together, so here there are.

King Regula IIb (Ghetaldus Ghenar 45/3.5), HP5+ pushed to 1600 in Caffenol-C-L. I was experimenting with some changes in my developing routine for pushing, which resulted in significant overdevelopment; after torturing the film in development, I had to further abuse it in scanning to get it back to a reasonable range. Combined with a flare-prone triplet, the results are pretty ugly, but they sort of work here, I think.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Dude! Those are creeping me out. I have always found abandoned structures out in the woods too scary to approach. Too many horror movies in my youth, I guess. Good job on the pictures. I'm glad you weren't chopped into little pieces by a crazed lunatic with lots of sharp objects. Can someone post a kitten or something to cleanse my psyche please?

So I'm guessing you don't want to see the interior shots?  ;)

If you look closely at the first one you can see one of the pentagrams spray-painted on the side of the building.

Francois, those colours are just very nice. I'm picking up a Kodak Ultra 400 exposed at ISO 200 from the lab tomorrow, hope I've been just as lucky!

Lovely creek you have there Kevin.

02: do I feel a bit of Blair Witch going on in those photos?

I don't know - I never saw the movie - but based on what I've heard about it, I suspect some might feel that way.

I really love those shots with the Contax G1 by calbisu !
Indofunk's 'Sunset in deepest Queens' is another fav.
O2Pilot's 'Blair Witch Project' is a pleasure to look at.

I dunno. The shadow of the cat that is out of frame looks kind of menacing. But I guess it is in more of a noir style, so you're right. Not creepy. ;D

There's also a third cat that apparently is only visible on some screens or at certain angles. Look for him near the top, just right of center of the frame.

(But no, not that creepy but I was feeling impish :) )

I took the new Kodak Tmax Aerecon II (exp '98) for a spin in my Nikon N2020. I wasn't really expecting greatness from this film, but at first blush, I really like it. The grain is good, but the tonal range is excellent! I did a Rodinal 1:100 stand dev, so maybe something different would show less grain, but that's not usually the direction I go. It sort of reminds me of Acros.

Hi Terry, I couldn't believe it when I saw this. Is this in NYC?

I looked for this building when I was there and couldn't find it. I can't remember the architects name now, it must be three years ago. On to the Google ....

Oh that is a shame. I had no problems. But was planning to go back and try again as there are a few things I think I could do to get a better image.
