'ello. It's been a while. Trees.
« on: September 06, 2015, 07:30:23 PM »
I've not been using much film over the past year or so. But I dusted off the DDS's and the trust old Chamonix to rectify that a few weeks ago.

Two trees on the shore of Esthwaite Water, Cumbria.

Good to see you're back :)
I'm tempted to talk like Bob Ross: trees are my friends :)

Those are definitely happy little trees :)

I like that they're isolated. I can't seem to find any good isolated trees around here, probably because being a city they are planted exactly like the humans: all crammed into a tiny space  :D

Love that top one Leon; wonderful subtle tonal shifts in that.

Both are really nice but the second one is the one that does it for me....

Me too. The first one is beautiful but I'm totally in love with the second one.

Yep, #2 has some windswept awesomness going on.

But then #1 has the water and the hills and the fog in the background that makes me really want to be there.

That's it. I can't choose. Okay, #2 is my... no wait... #1 is better. No, I want them both side by side on my wall.

This moment of angst brought to you by the good folks at Leon.

Both images are beautiful! Love the tonaliity and detail.
The 2nd is also my favourite. The longer grass in the foreground gives image much more depth than the first and the curvature in the tree is fantastic. I will be off to the south of England (first Dorset, then Forest of Dean/Wye valley) for vacation soon and will also have the Chamonix with me. Your photos really make me looking forward to the trip.  :)

Both are fine, love the subtle tones of the first and the slightly dramatic tones of the second. They would make a beautiful diptych.

Nice Leon. You obviously have HP5+ in Pyrocat nailed, the subtlety of the gradation is exceptional. Works well with the mood of the weather and the scenery.

Thanks everyone! Very kind words.

Ezzie... I find pyrocat, semi-stand and either fp4 or hp5 is a perfect match.

Very serene. I'm getting back into 4x5 also and will be very happy if my results are 1/10 as good as that top shot....
Great to see you posting again.
