Weekend 14 - 16 August
« on: August 14, 2015, 08:49:26 AM »
What else to do on friday morning 9:48 A.M. then to start the weekend....  ;D

So last weekend there was the annual avation days at my local small airport. I shot some Double-x @200 and Vision 3 500T @320.
The double-x I souped in cafenol, the C-M (rs) version. that is the one without potassium bromide and with reduced soda  ???. Never tried that but I am pleased with the result. This is only the second time I home brewed cafenol, first time I used the wrong soda   :o , and that raises a question with me. Does cafenol go of very quickly or what? Because I tried another roll two days later in the same batch and it came out blank!  :-\
Second shot is on vision 3 500T without filter. I gave the six gates film remjet remover another go and this time it worked, more or less. Dumped the stuff in soaked it for about a minute, shaking it like a martini and at changing the water remjet came of  :D
After development it seemed there was still some on which still had to be wiped of by hand but the result was better then the first time.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Looks like a heavy machinery theme developing...none of that from me though.  A couple from a trip to Washington DC last week: burned through seven rolls of film!  These are both shot with the Yashica 44LM, one is expired Portra 160 NC and the other is HP5.

This marks the 28th roll in the C-41 marathon.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Great start to the weekend!  This was shot with a Hollywood Sportsman using Fujifilm Neopan Acros 120 film re-spooled onto a 620 spool.  It was developed in Caffenol C-L/S for 70 minutes and fixed in a salt solution for 48 hours.  If you like cameras with a toy quality lens, scratches film, light leaks and despite looking like a TLR it has a semi-accurate scale focus, then this is the camera for you.

Q: what's the best thing you can do with the various Kodak "Elite Chrome" emulsions?
A: redscale them and cross-process in C41! :D

Yes, the tower bridge is also for my taste, delicious. A lot of other great pictures to start the WE.

Here's a 2 in 1. Both shots were intended, but not the partial overlapping. I had good luck. And a more conventional night shot. Both on cheap drugstorefilm, developed in homebrewed Dignans 2-bath C-41 dev.

Lots of good stuff, I especially like Phil's shot of the old school.
From me two pics shot on the same strange fim as last time, but I put the last roll in my Agat 18. It came out underexposed and grainy, and no way could I make it look good. So I decided to make it even darker and dirtier! Here's the result.

Wow! Some great stuff this weekend. Those portraits Gimenosaiz are great, so relaxed and casual. Lovely. I was this weekend reminded by a friend of the power of a tripod and the versatility of film:

Cheap Fujicolor 400 in my trusty GR1, set at f2.8 and prefocused for the self-timer. I shot a whole roll and the consistency of exposure and slight grain is quite impressive. Skj

Not sure what went wrong here, I developed it  last night with adox rodinal. HP5+ @400
What are these white snowflakes on the film?
Now that I think of it, could it be from the wetting agent, that I was agitating it? That's the only thing different I did?

Check the film surface by reflection. I sometimes get a white residue on my film from either dry photoflo in my spray bottle's nozzle or hard water...

I was thinking it might be dirty water--little flakes of some sort of residue.  Maybe agitating the wetting agent stirred up some crud that stuck itself to the neg?  The marks seem to have a lateral orientation; did you agitate by inversion or with a swizzle stick?
