From a recent trip to Monschau ...
« on: July 23, 2015, 09:59:33 PM »
I would like to share some photographs, I took on a recent trip to Monschau.

Monschau is a small resort town in the Eifel region of western Germany,
located in the district Aachen, North Rhine-Wetphalia.
The first mention of Monschau was made in 1198.

The town is located in the hills of the North Eifel, within the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park
in the narrow valley of the Rur river. Historically, the main industry of the town was cloth-mills.

On the heights above the city is Monschau castle, which dates back to the 13th century.

I stayed in the Monschau Castle Youth Hostel.

The historic town center has many preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets.

Monschau is nearly unchanged for about 300 years and a popular tourist attraction nowadays.

Lovely photos.  It doesn't look real (in a good way) as it has seemingly been so well preserved.

Beautiful shots, Andreas. What camera did you use?
Never mind. I've found the answer on your Flickr pages.  :-[  :)

Thank you all for your very kind comments -
these photographs were taken with the FUJI GA645Wi (FUJINON 45mm f/4) and an old Konica III Rangefinder (Hexanon 48mm f/2) on Kodak Portra 160.

Wonderful shots Andreas!
I am hoping to take a day trip to the Eiffel region one weekend this year. Maybe take some photos of the Effelsberg radio telescope. Monschau also looks well worth a visit.

Great shots, I really like the way you caught the light in the very first shot, -the background hillside and side of the building cast in shadow really makes the subject unmistakable.  Perfect time of day for that angle!
