FrankE the images are tagged in flickr so you could have cheated! You are correct though. While the XA lens is sharp the summicron still has the upper hand. Couple more from me. REALLY happy with the performance of this combo.

If you get one, be prepared to buy lots of black tape to smother the camera with to reduce light leaks, and to file down the area outside the pinhole to avoid vignetting, and to have a low keeper rate !

I get a kick out of these weekend threads. They are awesome. Tintin, I saw them in flickr but I could not remember which one was which. I do know I like the XA shot better, whether sharper or not. I love that Venice shot, btw Sandeha.

I had another roll from my trip to visit TinTin last week that I processed a few days ago...

So i was looking for the lomo sunset strip for quite a while, found some on the bay and shot it in my trip 35. Home processed it in a tetenal c-41 kit, well I really didn't anticipate this. Grain is almost toxic and the bar in the bottom of the pictures, I think, is a developing mistake  :-[
Well a nice little experiment but I'll stick to cross processing ektachrome from now on  ;D

Here's a long handheld exposure. It was pretty dark, so I missed the focus on the shrubbery a bit, but I think you get the idea. The tracks are disused and have been long enough for the plants to start taking over.

So many great shots in this thread covering the gamut of films and equipment, love this forum. Here's a couple from yesterday's July 4th bash at a friends house (I also shot a few on my new-to-me Fuji GA645Zi that I'll try to develop tonight)...

For now, here's two from the Polaroid 360 on FP-100C:

Fantastic weekend thread, everyone! And so jealous. I'm sitting in Sea-Tac Airport with five rolls on me, another five at home. So much processing, so little time.

This is from my Canonet 28 and some Arista Ultra 400. So far, it's proving to be one of the toughest films I ever scanned. A real nightmare.

Here are two from a roll of Ektar, indifferently developed at the local drug store.  I didn't know that it was possible to get such pronounced grain on Ektar--disappointed.  They are mountain views.  The first from the Isle of Skye, Scotland and the second from the Beira Alta, Portugal.

That is a real shame.  The Old Man of Storr and the Quaraing are wonderful places to visit (I've visited Skye a few times) and the place you shot in Portugal also looks lovely. You'd think that C41 processing via machine would be virtually infallible - but clearly not.

I've had mixed luck with Ektar on the few occasions I've used it. Sometimes over-saturated, sometimed wishy-washy and once, some very odd colours I struggled to correct. That said, there are plenty on here who get really good results from it.

As for processing, I've got to the point that I only take film to High Street labs when I know I can go and re-shoot relatively easily. If it's something that I want to keep, print and / or post, I use a specialist lab. There's no guarantees, either way, of course, but I just try to reduce the risk.....

As LD mentioned, Ektar can be a temperamental and unpredictable film (though the development is apparently the culprit here - shame about that). I've had mixed results in 135 - probably user error, since I don't meter in most cases: the cyan cast it can take on when overexposed is quite annoying, but the sheer multitude of ways it can go off make it a bit of a crap shoot for me. I've had better luck with it in half-frame and 120 - I cannot explain the half-frame results (well, I can explain them when we're talking about the fully-automatic exposure Yashica Samurai, but I've seen it in other cameras as well), but I suppose I'm paying more attention to each frame in medium format. It's really best with uncoated lenses - I love it in my pre-war Rolleiflex.

LD and 02Pilot:

I'm feeling a bit sheepish for blaming the degraded quality of my Ektar shots on the drugstore processing.  I hadn't realized that the film was so delicate.  The processed negatives have a pronounced cyan tinge--I tend to overexpose--and the roll went through many airport security checks including, once, in a checked bag.  While it's true that the drugstore clerk (and photo technician) didn't inspire confidence, it may have been unfair to blame it all on processing.

On the plus side, my rolls of Tri-X and Pan-F Plus seem to be coming out fine.  More pics to follow, on the weekend.

I used to go to a lab many many years ago where the clerk told me that the definite magenta cast on my film was due to bad storage of the film I had bought. I stupidly threw out the rest of the Fuji Multipack I had. It's only years later that I realized that it was probably his chemistry that was to blame.

I still send out my film through a drugstore, but I know they send it out to a very large processing company that can't waste hundreds of rolls of films due to bad chemistry. So while they are a place for amateur films, they do the proper tests on their equipment. Even the prints are surprisingly good for the price.
