Dev time for Fomapan 200 in Caffenol?
« on: June 25, 2014, 03:17:37 AM »
Yeah, I know - same question, different film. Anyway, I grabbed a few rolls of Fomapan 200 in 120 (Arista-branded from Freestyle), and I'm trying to figure out a starting point for development in Caffenol; I can't find anything definitive online. I'm assuming I should go with C-H (RS) rather than C-M (RS) due to the speed. The other films I've done in C-H (RS) (Tri-X and HP5+) have worked well at 15min@20C, but those are 400 rather 200, and fully traditional grain structure vs. the hybrid grain structure of the Fomapan 200 (from what I've read, at least). Anyone using this film and developer combo, and if so, what times are you using? Thanks.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

No issues with base fog without the restrainer?

Oh "beep" I do use restrainer, so it´s Caffenol CH (rs).. My bad!  ::)

Instant Coffee: 40g/l
Washing Soda: 40 g/l
Vit. C (pure): 16 g/l
Potassium Bromide/Kbr: 1 g/l or Iodized Salt (0,0025 % potassium iodate KIO2 - Kaliumjodat): 10 g/l

FYI, I decided to use Caffenol-C-H (RS) for 15 minutes at 20degC as my baseline. There's a little base fog, but not bad, and the development otherwise looks pretty good. I may tweak the time downward a bit, but it's OK as it is.
