Ed, the combination of your homemade lens and expired Polaroid is magical.

Fantastically high standard as always!

I was testing out the different shutter speeds on the Ciro-flex that Terry gave me. Cheap Lomo redscale film, I bought it because it was reduced to £5 for three rolls...

Ed, that's really great ..... orsum :)

feel like in some kind of old SciFi movie

Lund: I like your image very, very much.

Just got back in from an evening with friends and decided to prop my eyes open for an extra 30 minutes in order to scan one of the cable car images from last weekend. I'm pleased with the way it's come out; a nice mix of menace and sci-fi  8)

Adnan - March 2013 by Moiz, on Flickr

A couple of portraits I made my 7 year old sit through today, thought I'd get them on the thread, just under the wire!

I love how the paper negs exacerbate the hereditary dark circles under his eyes in the first one and he did really well keeping still through a 15sec exposure!

Plenty of fantastic pictures again this weekend from everyone!

Me too. Very strong portraits; I'm glad you got them in 'under the wire'  :D

Moizak: Having a 7 year old of my own I can't imagine anyone of that age keeping still for 15 seconds, so that's an achievement within an achievement.

Aksel, Phil, Thom and Ed, thank you all for your kind words.

I'm no pro, really just relearning the analogue trade after spending the last few years only taking family snaps and video with a digital camera. It's nice to be able to think I'm doing something right!

Only problem is that I seem to have set my own bar pretty high from the start :) I'll have to work hard to keep up the standard.

As for him keeping still Ed, he was so fidgety as we set up I thought there was no way I was going to get a picture. We went through one practice so he knew what 15secs was then we just went for it.

Thanks again,

Moiz (no need for the ak :) )

That first portrait is stupendous Moiz. The blur and ortho-esque look reminds me of JMC. Nicely done.

Thanks Leon.

Excuse my ignorance but who is JMC?

As for the ortho-esque look, well that's easy to explain because it is ortho! Both of these are on paper negatives, on Kentmere VC preflashed before loading.

Hi Moiz

Julia Margaret Cameron - the mother of pictorial portrait photography.

I wonder if VC papers are orthochromatic? Given that the word describes a sensitivity to all colours excepting red, and that VC papers are only sensitive to blue and green, so not truly orthochromatic  - hence ortho-esque :)

Leon, I stand corrected :) (which will happen often, no doubt!)

I'm now off to google Julia Margaret Cameron.

Finally got around to processing the Fuji Acros 100 film I exposed in my Holga pinhole camera. Unfortunately, I don't have a 120-sized film scanner, so I resorted to photographing the negatives off a lightbox using my digi-cam. I've shot paper negatives for years, but little rollfilm in pinhole cameras, so haven't needed the larger scanner. Still haven't found time to wet print these in the darkroom.

The full set is here, a few examples posted below.

Digicam shots of negatives are usually good enough.
If you look in my contraptions series in the articles, I have an instant film scanner I built that works just fine.
One trick I discovered is to underexpose the digicam image by one stop max so that when it gets inverted, the image is lighter with better tones.

Holga GFN, Lomography 100 color print film, lab developed. The old Pup-N-Taco restaurant at Edith and Central in downtown Albuquerque. My grandparent's house was next door (is now a lawyer's office), I can remember as a kid when it first opened, someone scrawled graffiti in the men's restroom at the old public library across the street (visible in the photo) with this classic line: "Flush hard, it's a long way to the Pup-N-Taco."

Lovely stuff as always Joe. Particularly like the first of the pinholes and the pop of the Pup-n- Taco.
