Noooooo! just when we'd all forgotten about it we're now going to have a plethora of speculation again and will still have to wait until March!! :'(

Okay - so "Focus on Imaging" is a digi-fest for the most part but is anyone going? If I go, I tend to go early (doors opening) on the Sunday. If anyone fancies a meet, drop me a PM.

I'm sufficiently intrigued / frustrated with this thread to hang around the Ilford stand - just to see what this has all been about..... :o

I feel like a fish in the pond. And there's someone trying to get me to take that hook.

They probably got an environmental stamp of approval on their products. And some ISO 9000 derivative stamp.

This is starting to be bo-ring.

Actually, it's very exciting. So stick that in your tank and develop it.

Also, there is a new second thing that is equally exciting, but I'm also sworn to silence on that too!

BRILLIANT.

You tease!!!

Let me guess, they bought the old Kodachrome machinery for a tenner in Kodak's "Everything Must Go!" sale, and raided the skip round the back of Dwayne's for the old process machine, and are going to introduce New Ilfochrome!

But seriously, I wonder what it is going to be?

Actually, I'm just kidding. But we've been waiting for so long that we're running out of ideas.

But I also know that even if we'd stumbled on it, you wouldn't let anything leak. Ilford did train you good.

So, possibilities for March...
Too bad it's not February as I would have thought it could have to do with Punxsutawney Phil...

Oh, well. Why not just go crazy with totally stupid propositions that make no commercial sense whatsoever.

Ilford to go in the perfume business: introduces "scent of fixer".
Ilford to start making Orange scented stop bath: Product to be a derivative of Orange Tang powder.
Ilford to venture into the digital capture domain: introduces a new high speed film scanning device.
Ilford re-introduces the Disc format film.
Ilford launches a new line of darkroom equipment.
Ilford introduces a new instant processing 35mm film.
Ilford to commercially offer caffenol in pre-mixed packs.

Well even if it is not going to be announced until march there is still a chance that I will get it in my hot little hands (whatever the goodness is that Leon is teasing us with) before I get the danged lomochrome I ordered today haha. It's a fun time to be an analog nerd :-)

How about next weekend we tie Leon up to 'Godwins Groynes' at Pett Level, wait for the tide to come in, and when it's up to his neck he'll sing like a canary.

Or get him drunk at lunchtime?

the funniest thing about this thread is that it is probably only good news for me!  We shall see.

I have a feeling that this is going to be the longest running "blowing my own trumpet" thread ever.  8)

Susan Boyle? you're mean  ;D

I was thinking that you can't get worse than that... then again...
We have a local guy that's got her beat. He sells CD's quite well (which is the first surprise). It's probably very funny when you're really drunk. But since I don't drink, it's pretty pointless to me. He says he had an apparition and god told him that he had the talent to write a new song a day to spread some love... and he believed it! This is one of his official videos for a song called "the doorknob" telling the story of a guy who came to visit but kept his hand on the doorknob while chatting endlessly. If anyone can stand this for the entire length of the clip, I give them a pretzel!

You know Leon would never do that!
He'd rather burn his Chamonix than admit to anything like that ;)

Actually, I think they'll use the portrait they took of him at the previous show to put on the cover of one of their boxes  :P

That's only part of it, Urban.

Apparently, there's something entirely separate which is going to be released into the wild at "Focus on Imaging" at the NEC at the beginning of March. I was talking to one of the chaps that runs West End Cameras earlier this week and he mentioned that he's quite excited by this new product. He gave no details whatsoever but it's expected to be quite an attention grabber and not too expensive. Clearly "not too expensive" is a subjective term but he said the retail price in the UK will be "less than £100".

That aside, I haven't got the foggiest what it is. What I'm hoping for is a decent quality film camera (maybe along the lines of a Holga) that will appeal to the masses and boost film sales.

Seeing as they have already announced it ... It was the Pro-Gallery site that I am/was really enthused by. People can buy affordable silver prints of their favourite photographer's work  produced in the Harman/Ilford darkrooms with a quality guarantee. Some of my work will be available alongside others - in a variety of sizes.  I think this is a really interesting manoeuvre for the Mobberly crew, and one I hope becomes successful.

See, it's all about me, as usual ;)

New at Focus 2013, and supported by images from Leon Taylor, will be the HARMAN TiTAN 8x10 Pinhole Camera designed and manufactured in the UK by Walker Cameras. This follows the extremely successful introduction of the 4x5 inch version at Focus 2012.

Well done Leon :)

Holga and decent quality not usually appearing in the same sentence!

Actually something like a modern-day Ilford Sportsman might be pretty nifty.

I'm wondering if this is going to be the 'mini' version of the Titan, maybe using 120 roll film - a cheaper 'gateway drug' into the Ilford pinhole family!
Certainly a roll film mini-Titan (which I guess is a contradiction in terms) would be something I'd buy!

Hey, a 'mini Titan' could be called an Eos, or a Helios, or a Selene, which would be very cool.

Oh, but yeah, Eos is already taken.

I wasn't intending to infer any suggestion of quality on Holga - just that the new Ilford pinhole might benefit from being of similar size, etc. If Walker / Titan (or Ilford) is making it, I suspect that (a) it will be of solid / worthy materials and (b) it won't be necessary to use black gaffer tape to hold the back in place and seal up all the light leaks. The absence of a lens that resembles a partly sucked boiled sweet can only improve optical performance, in comparative terms.

now that's something that would interest me!

maybe it could be called HARMAN SPORTITAN?? -leon, pull those strings of yours hard now!! ;)

make it a something wide like 6x9 or 6x12, with inner masking possibilities to go down to 6x6 minimum and the same cone system as before. perfect!

I got the MOD54 recently but haven´t used it yet, well I have practiced but not for real, it seems pretty easy going and well done, but a bit pricy I would say.

I'd intended to but too much to do at home this weekend. I hope the Ilford stand is inundated with orders for the new film wasting products. It's just a pity there aren't more companies like them - not only promoting film use but investing in new products.

Hope you have a great day if you go.
