Hang on a minute lads, I've got a great idea
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:11:32 PM »
Some of you may know those as the last words spoken in 60's caper movie The Italian Job. As part of this year's "cultural olympiad" there were a number of artworks around the country. One of which is a replica of the coach from the final scenes of said film placed on the roof of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on the south coast.

The De La Warr Pavilion ( http://www.dlwp.com/ ) is a grade one listed Modernist building, completely restored in the early 2000s, and well worth a visit even if it doesn't have a bus on the roof...

It's right on the coast.

When you are allowed on the roof, there are some good views.

It has an eminently photographable spiral staircase.

Although it'll only have a bus on the roof until the end of September.

It's well worth a visit as it's a very photogenic building.

All photos taken using a Bronica ETRS with 50mm lens, all but the last two on Ilford FP4+ and the last two on Ilford HP5+

Great pics and story... My fave quote:

I decided to enlarge the Polaroids, because, as the wolf said to Red Riding Hood, “all the better to see you with, my dear.” Mrs Helmut Newton

I absolutely love the shot looking down the spiral staircase! It's perfect (I just favorited it on Flickr, too!).
