"Eight Seconds: the Quebec Rodeos" by Aislinn Leggett
« on: February 05, 2009, 03:15:30 PM »
I was alerted to this truly wonderful photo essay yesterday on the Burn Magazine website - "Eight Seconds: the Quebec Rodeos" by Aislinn Leggett - and have been back to check it out a couple of times since. Lovely stuff indeed. Strong on the grain, but in a really good way that I think complements the subject matter and doesn't get in the way...hell, I'm a sucker for big, fat grain anyway, but it does work really well in this case. At 30+ photos it's no mean achievement either.

Funny I've never heard of her...
Rodeos are usually considered ultra corny around here. There is a big country festival in a town about 1:30 from where I live (Festival western de saint-tite). Nobody I know would be seen walking these streets when the festival is going on... and nobody that I know would survive the twangy off-key western music they play there  ;D

i did the rodeo thing a couple years ago. mine aren't quite as cool, but she looks like she was more involved and was able to get up close and personal.

I really liked those. The grain is very atmospheric, but I really liked the audio as well. I've always fancied having ago at recording audio to go with photographs at the time they're taken. I've not got around to it yet but maybe I will.
