Title: Weekend thread, Frozen edition (5-7 Jan 2018)
Post by: 02Pilot on January 05, 2018, 02:54:08 PM
It's bitterly cold, it snowed overnight, and I'm sick, so I'm starting the weekend thread - mostly to briefly distract me from feeling trapped and miserable. And I'm doing it with two photos. Try and stop me (I'm extra ornery when I'm sick).

Great shots! I love the shadows and the textures!

I'm adding to pictures from NYE weekend in New York.

This one was taken with Kodak Tmax 400, pushed to 1600 and developed in Ilfotec DD-X 1:4 for 11 minutes. We were at a Venezuelan friend's restaurant in Brooklyn (Bedford-Stv) and they had a large makeup lamp for the ladies to retouch their makeup without having to go to the bathroom. I was drunk, so I told my friend Ines to pose for me, but I set the camera to Program since I was too wasted to adjust the settings manually. She was also drunk since I asked her to smile for this picture... And...

I used Fuji Superia 400 pushed to 1600 for this one, taken on Jan 1st right outside the Broadway subway station in Astoria.

Take care, and happy new year! (feel better, too).

I like the cracks in that second shot O2Pilot, Miguel, that's a beautiful portrait.  In finishing off a roll in my Leica IIIc I decided to do some experimenting with my Lietz Focaslide using about 50cm of extension tubes with an Elmar 5cm lens.  I just guessed on the exposure compensation for the extension tube and way underestimated it.  I guessed a few stops, it should have been closer to 7 stops.  I was still able to tease this image out of it, the eagle and snake on a Mexican coin.  The film is Ilford Pan-F 50+ developed in Caffenol C-H (rs), I was out of beer.

I uploaded several photos from this roll onto my NAPA County Wildfire essay.

A couple developed before Christmas, I think shot with my XA2. Orwo N74+, HC-110B
I'm trying to get myself to shoot a bit more by taking my camera out every day but it's difficult seeing something new in the very familiar.

The Winter seems to be always anticyclic between North America and Europe (something about alternating weather systems). Over here it is very warm - +12°C this week. We did have some snow in early December though when I took these shots.

Very nice contributions everyone!

I took the following shot on New Years morning in Goslar, Germany. Shot with Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/2 on Fomapan 400, developed in Fomadon LQN.

Really nice to be able to take a look at these this morning!

02Pilot: get better soon! I like your photos, particularly the first one. What are ewe looking at?
Miguel: love those! Your friend Ines is really beautiful.
Bryan: fabulous experiment! I am looking for a small enough closeup lens so I can use my little half-frame for close ups. Not developed the film yet though.
Kai-San: very pleasing.
Nigel: particularly the first one is a bit Bert Hardy-ish!
jharr: Dandelions seem like they will never grow here, but in a couple of months they will be everywhere. Must remember that.
ManuelL: I love that effect. Next time it snows, I am going to try and replicate it.
cs1 - very nice shapes in those.

Now, one of mine. I like chickens. These belong to my other half's parents. They are too old for laying now, so are pets really.

Not sure what's going on with the scanner. There is good detail in the negative for this. Oh well.

I figured it was so cold and gloomy lately I'd remind myself of sunny days of last summer by developing some of the exposed colour film which had been sitting in the fridge waiting on a development kit.
Deal, shot on Portra 160 in my Bronica ETRS

There are, as usual, so many great photos here but my favorite has to be the first—02Pilot's ram's head shadow in a bucket.

Here are two sets of arches in the building that used to be a sad jail and is now the home of the Centro Português Fotografia in Porto—my current favorite photography museum:  http://www.cpf.pt (http://www.cpf.pt)  They were made in an Adox Golf camera on Tri-X, ASA 800, and developed in Rodinol 1:100, semi-stand.
