Title: Sharing results
Post by: Francois on November 01, 2017, 07:55:03 PM
Yesterday I tested the AGAT 18 half frame camera I got through Share the Love 2017!
And to make things more fun, I also tested a short roll of unknown stored in the desert film I got this summer at a garage sale in a bulk loader.
It turns out the film was one of the oldest ones I've shot in my entire life! It's a roll of Ilford HP5... notice I didn't write HP5 Plus or HP5+  ;D
Ilford stopped making HP5 in 1989... I exposed it at EI 100, but in reality it should have been at EI 50 or 64. But I didn't know it at the time.
Emulsion was super fragile. I even managed to wipe some off the leader with my fingers after development.
But do I love those results! Grain madness!

The camera is really nice, but the shutter button could be a bit more sensitive. But so far, it's really a camera I love!
Here are a few select shots from my really short test roll.

Thanks!
And that film really does have quite a story.
Lucky for me its previous owner was an early adopter of digital technology! Otherwise there wouldn't have been any left for me to enjoy :)

Francois, I'm very pleased to see that the Agat has found a good home! It seems to like you better than it did me.  :D

Yesterday was a nice day here, so I loaded the Yashica FX-2 from Bryan with Fuji Neopan 400 and set off. I put in a battery adapter which gives the required 1.3V and the meter is about as accurate as one can expect from a 1976 model SLR. The FX-2 is a nice camera that handles well, and I have some nice Zeiss and Yashica glass to go with it. The attached frames are scanned from a curly film (couldn't wait), so they are not the best representation of what this camera can produce.

I'm glad you like it Kai, sounds like you'll get more use out of it than I would have.

Finally got the test roll from the XA2 Bryan sent my way. Fun little thing to play with, and certainly quite capable. A few samples:

Great job Andrej, I especially like the teddy bear.  Glad you’re happy with the camera.
