Title: Galloping Gertie
Post by: Bryan on August 01, 2017, 08:21:06 PM
The Tacoma Narrows bridge, AKA Galloping Gertie, was originally built in 1940.  In 2007 the sister bridge was constructed to handle the increasing traffic on and off of the Kitsap Peninsula in Puget Sound.  The first bridge only lasted about 4 months before it had to be reconstructed (see video link).

The new bridge has a nice walking path so I decided to take my Canon AE-1 for a walk with a Canon FD 24mm f/2.8 S.S.C. lens and a Canon FD 100-200mm f5.6 S.C. lens.  The film is Ilford Delta 100 developed in beer.

I started my walk on the Kitsap Peninsula side, that way I didn't have to pay the toll.  This is the approach to the bridge with Tacoma in the background.

There's a great view of Mt. Rainier from the bridge.

A very enjoyable set Bryan. I like the film/dev combination you chose. The grain and long tonal range seem to suit the 'old bridge/new bridge' theme. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Irv, it actually turned out a little grainier than I was expecting based on my past experience with that film/developer combo.  But I do like it.
