Title: Tokyo at Nightfall.
Post by: Flippy on April 16, 2016, 10:32:23 PM
On my way back from visiting a friend in Naha, Okinawa, I got to spend some time in Tokyo. Only a few hours. By the time I arrived in Shinjuku station, light was fading fast. I had a blister from walking through rain in Tokyo on my way in, and I sprained my ankle in Okinawa - but the weather was nice and I was determined to go for a walk.

This entrance to yoyogi station was quite quaint, in stark contrast to the station itself. I kept the railway in sight, as I know nothing about navigating Tokyo, and it could always serve as my escape route if I got lost.

I walked a bit further than Harajuku station before turning back. I'd have loved to seen more, but it was getting too dark for photos, shops were closing (I had just enough time to grab a stack of manga that has no hope of being serialized in the U.S.) and I had a flight to catch the next day. I wish I had more time - but I already spent plenty in Okinawa. More on that later.

I'm a sucker for night shots, and these are great! I especially love the penultimate one :)

Beautiful impressions of the blue hour. I like them all, but miss the color in the bw. Thanks for showing.

Great shots Flippy!  I had a very similar experience for one night around Shinjuku Station last year during a layover.  I stayed within a few blocks from the station and my hotel and wandered around until about 1:00 AM.  It's amazing how much activity there is there but it is the busiest transportation hub in the world.

Really nice - all of them.  If I had to pick a couple for the wall, they'd be 3rd and 4th.  Can't explain why - they just would.... :)

Japan at night. Oh, man can't wait to get my chance for a photowalk.

Last shot was a nice closing statement on what the walk was all about.

Fantastic shots. I do really like those low light photos. :)

Good work.

Did you mention what film this is?

Flickr says that Okinawa ones were shot on Ektar, so I suppose...

Cheers

I used fujifilm 400H. I actually ran out of 120 in Okinawa, and it is impossible to find on that island. I bought the Fujifilm from Bic camera in Shinjuku as soon as I got into Tokyo the evening I took these photos.

Love the 'blue hour' look of these--very moody!
