Optometropolis
This self portrait, called "Optometropolis" is originally from a series produced for a world-wide traveling exhibition called Urban Spaces: and the people who inhabit them, presented by wooloo.org. It was exhibited in Berlin and Paraty, Brazil in 2008 (future screenings are scheduled for Lisbon, Porto, New York City, Chicago, Montreal, Buenos Aires and Caracas). The four underlying themes of the exhibition are Survival, Decadence, Anonymity, and Defiance; Survival of my camera, which is being repaired by the man on the right, Decadence of the Titanium Leica and the Summilux, Anonymity of me behind the glasses and camera, Defiance of the double exposure. The image has since become part of another ongoing project most recently billed in Tokyo as "The War Against Reality" which addressed the dichotomy in memory vs. reality and the disorientation there within. The photo was taken with a Leica M6 and Voightlander 28mm Ultron on Kodak Tri-X developed in good ol' D76. website: zebriography.com and blog: zokyo.jp
