Watertown, Mass., December 2008. When I saw this in front of me as I crossed the street, I felt that it summed up what 2008 degenerated into. A bold announcement for "Jobs and Careers" turns out to be nothing more than an empty, grubby newspaper box. No job listings, certainly no careers, no opportunities -- an economy laid waste by greed, mismanagement, no oversight, and no foresight. January 20, 2009, cannot arrive too soon.
